challenges
The old platform was written in PHP and it
quickly started seeing problems in scalability.
With the number of users growing steadily,
frequent crashes due to load and server going
down impacted user experience. Hence, the
platform had to be reengineered using better
technology. Before the new platform was built
with RoR, it had about 70,000 endusers and
150- 200 businesses using the solution.

and 1200 businesses
across India.
Since Reelo was and continues to be a fast-
growing platform, speed, scalability and
security were the top priorities for the product.
Hence, our team narrowed down to using
Ruby on Rails to do the product engineering.
We had to ensure that the product was
neither over engineered (otherwise it would
increase costs unnecessarily) nor
underengineered (else it would impact user
experience).
The old system/platform had almost 1.5 million records which needed to be migrated to the new system in a secured way.
Our team did the necessary research and went the extra mile to understand the database to do the required data migration.
Loyalty/reward based apps look incredibly simple to end-users but have equally complex back-end operations.
Reelo is available for both business owners and end users. The main business targets for this platform are salons, restaurants, small retailers, cafe shops etc. Now, these can have multiple branches spread across cities and nationwide.
Now tracking, segmented user data on a daily basis adds another layer of complexity to this reporting feature.
It differs from business to business. Also, these are super-important because marketing-decisions depend on their accuracy. Besides, the tracking of email, push and SMS notifications for marketing campaigns was also complex with respect to scalability, which we implemented flawlessly.
