What’s dangerous is not to evolve — Jeff Bezos

Fitness, healthcare, and m-health applications are on the rise. According to a recent article in The Economist, there will be 1.7 billion downloads by 2017 and M-Health global revenues are expected to reach $2.1 Billion!

With so many fitness apps like the 7 Minute Workout, Endomondo, MapMyFitness, and Lose it! and many more, it was hard to make a differentiator.

We started off with the idea that our bodies are designed to squat, lunge, bend, push, pull, twist, walk (run or jump). Taking the risk of using the number 7 (Even though I consider it a magic number) in our app name was high but we made our share of bets :)

What followed was a plethora of iterations and many exercises made from a cute animated character that took months to develop. In the end, the results were quite promising.

Now we thought that we had the perfect recipe for success:

Idea + Design + Execution = Viral Success

But we had a soft launch, and soon one day while we were sleeping — someone took our 7DailyMoves GIF and shared it on Facebook without credits and the next two nights were sleepless. We worked hard to create the character and here it was shared by the likes of: LifeHack.org, Valentin Bosioc, London Marathon, Milind Soman, and many more.

We struggled to write to each of them individually to give credit to www.7dailymoves.com. Some of them agreed while some asked for money, it was a wild experience! Soon we had news publications and channels covering us like Channel News Asia, ABC News, BioTechIn Asia, and many more!

While Stuart Hall’s story was an inspiration to us — we’re still a long way to go. We’re around 4 months old with 20k+ downloads, we’re now in the loop of taking feedback, improvising, re-evolving, and redefining the user interface. We’re adding new workouts and are pretty much excited with the new development going on.

Let us know what you think of them — Love your suggestions!
